Money Wise
From Terroir NLV we seek to raise and nurture followers of Jesus who will faithfully live by God’s financial principles in every area of their lives. Be Money Wise as we call it.
There are many economic challenges facing Singapore which affect us all. We are so plugged into the global network that when a major trading partner sneezes Singapore catches a cold.
Having little natural resources and no hinterland to provide a safe buffer, Singaporeans have adopted a “survivor” mentality which values pragmatism and self sufficiency.
To secure one’s future, there are enormous pressures to advance financially, in one’s career and business. As you can imagine, this places great pressure on family life as well as create temptations to compromise one’s moral values and standards.
On the direct financial front, many have been adversely affected by debts. There are rising concerns about inflation and there are real concerns about having adequate retirement funds.
Others may be financially sound but they do not realize that there are profound spiritual implications in the handling of money. Consequently they are not growing in spiritual maturity and in their relationship with Jesus.
The fact is that money is an indicator of our hearts.
For instance, in Matthew 6:24, Jesus said that how we handle money will affect the level of intimacy with him. No man can serve two masters. Either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Do you know that the Bible has more than 2,300 verses dealing with money and 18 of Jesus’ 38 parables were related to financial matters? Contrast this to 500 verses on prayer and faith.
NLV’s desire is to promote teaching of these biblical truths concerning finance and equip people to handle money from God’s perspective. One of our goals is to work with ministry partners to equip people and enable them to enjoy true financial independence or freedom.
We invite you to keep an eye on our upcoming events which focuses on this important aspect of the Christian’s life.

Footnote: Terroir (Tear-Wah ) is a French term used in wine making, which may be interpreted in many ways, but a basic definition is “the coming together of the climate, the soil and the landscape”. Concerning a particular vineyard, terroir comprises the local factors that enable the growing of the best fruit and which makes its wine distinctive.
