MicCE & Missions
The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
-Matthew 25:40.
…and because he (Paul) was a tentmaker as they were, he stayed and worked with them. Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.
-Acts 18:3-4.
From Terroir NLV we seek to produce the fruit of advancing God’s Kingdom.
MicCE alongside missional communities is our vision for addressing the twin issues of financial lack and advancing the Kingdom
MicCE stands for Micro Credit and Enterprises and NLV MicCE is a ministrhy we have started which facilitate and directly engage in the extension of microcredit and investment in microenterprises.
NLV MicCE’s primary focus is Singapore and the countries in Asia. Our agenda is to plant microenterprises or businesses which will give work to people, and thereby bring them out of conditions of financial hopelessness, and poverty.
One of the goals of NLV MicCE is to help pastors of local church plants and workers in outreach ministries prepare to engage in microenterprises to attain financial freedom and self-sustainability. The microenterprise will become the means to provide for their families while continuing to minister, i.e. enable them to be effectively bi-vocational and reduce dependence on good will offerings.
We love the concept of financial sustainability. “Give someone a fish and you’ll feed them for a day; teach them to fish and they’ll feed themselves for life.”
NLV MicCE values dignity above dependency. We are excited to see recipients tap and utilise their income generating capabilities, creativity and passions. While we may give grants, NLV MicCE’s priority is to adopt a disciplined investor’s approach that releases the entrepreneurial spirit and yield both financial and social returns.
Over time we hope to bring on board kingdom-minded business entrepreneurs to partner with us in the above kingdom (ad)ventures.
Missions
Our vision for missions is focused on building relationships with local leaders and establishing and sustaining local church plants in the countries of Asia. We envisage that our service will involve gathering and sending resources and people to the church plants, which we are relating with, on short term basis, eg. on missions trip, as well as on long-term assignments.
Our strategy for missions includes partnering with trans-local ministers (especially VIneyard pastors) and missional organizations who share the same focus on church planting and advancing the Gospel into the countries of Asia.
We may function in apostolic roles, or as missionaries, connectors, trainers/coaches depending on the relationship that is built with each of the relating church/church planters.
Click here for more details of the relationships we have been developing and hope to get more involved with.
Please check “upcoming events” below to see if there is a MicCe and missions trip which you may like to sign up for.
Footnote: Terroir (Tear-Wah ) is a French term used in wine making, which may be interpreted in many ways, but a basic definition is “the coming together of the climate, the soil and the landscape”. Concerning a particular vineyard, terroir comprises the local factors that enable the growing of the best fruit and which makes its wine distinctive.
