Not tame but good

I came across Psalms 62:11-12 while preparing my message and it seemed to us like something that God would say to you today.

Of God the Psalmist wrote: One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving.

God would have you know that he is strong and he is loving. It is like the lion in the movie, Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) describing Aslan the Lion, who is a figure of Jesus Christ. He is not tame, but he is good!

In Psalm 18:35 King David speaks of a similar quality of God. David says to God: Your gentleness has made me great.

God is awesome and can be frightening like a fierce lion. But what God wants you to know, is that he’s loving, good and gentle. So fear not. Don’t be afraid when he shows up and wants to do something with you. He wants to make you great. May his love and strength be a great source of blessing for you this year!
